My son, Theseus Alexander, was born on January 27, 2023, a date that will forever hold a special place in our hearts. From the moment he entered this world, he brought with him an overwhelming sense of joy and happiness that enveloped our lives. We welcomed him with open arms and an abundance of love, eager to embrace the new journey that parenthood would bring.

Theseus, named after the legendary hero from Greek mythology, represents the spirit of adventure and bravery that we know without a doubt will accompany him throughout his life. His middle name, Alexander, is the formal masculine version of my name, Sandra, and honors the great conqueror, symbolizing strength and resilience. When we first laid eyes on our precious baby boy, we experienced an immediate connection, a bond beyond words that filled our hearts with warmth.

A Brief Summary of Theseus' Battle

On January 31, 2023, a sudden and alarming event unfolded when he began violently vomiting yellow stomach fluid, prompting immediate action. My daughter and I rushed him to East Tennessee Children's Hospital, where medical professionals quickly identified a serious condition—Malrotation, causing bowel obstruction. This rare anatomical issue required urgent surgery. Dr. Angel, his surgeon, explained the critical nature of the situation and performed a LADD's procedure and appendectomy. Despite initial success, complications arose, leading to a challenging two-month stay in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Throughout this period, a dedicated team of caregivers worked tirelessly, adjusting treatments and providing support, as we navigated the emotional and complex journey of his recovery.
